How Kim of Queens changed my LIFE

So when I received the call from Kim Gravel asking me if I could do some very specific photographic projects for her, I was stunned, amazed, honored and in downright disbelief.  You see, I was already one of this woman’s absolute biggest fans!  It took all I could do not to just blurt this out to her right over the phone.  But instead, I kept my professional composure, held it together and reassured her that I could make her every photographic wish come true.  I was on cloud nine after our call because this lady was going to be coming all the way to Dothan Alabama just to shoot with ME and for no other reason than because she liked my worked and had a “good feeling” about me.  Really?  Do people really do things because they just think you’re a good person and they like you based of what they have heard about you anymore?  Come on now, was this lady for real?

I’m here to tell you that this lady is VERY REAL and one of the most genuinely NICE people I have ever worked with!  Not only did we have one seriously fantastic photo shoot, but we have gotten to know one another very closely since then.  Spending countless hours going over images and coming up with design ideas together had a way of leading into other conversations and had us brainstorming until well after midnight on more than a few occasions.  I wouldn’t change a moment of it and I wouldn’t trade my friendship with this lady for anything.  Even if her show never reappears on television, I will forever call her my friend!  You see, Kim Gravel did something with me that no other client has ever done and she did it out of the goodness of her heart.  SHE PRAYED WITH ME!  You read that right!  SHE PRAYED WITH ME…

So, after much thought and prayer of my own, I have decided to ask you all to sign the petition that has been created in an attempt to get the Lifetime network’s attention.  Will it actually make a difference?  Who knows…  But, if you are like me and want to give a good and decent person a chance at success then I hope you will sign it using the link below.  Thank you.

a Photographer's Blog

Sometimes a girl’s gotta say what a girl’s gotta say and so I’ve created an entirely new place for me to do just that. I have been a photographer for over 25 years so I like to think I have much to share about the business of photography. I have learned many difficult lessons over the years while building my business and I now find myself on a mission to help others by teaching them how to avoid the pitfalls of this business. I’ve decided to share as much as I possibly can about my experiences in the world of photography including the good, the bad and the really ugly stupid. I’ve also decided to share some tips and tricks on how to DO IT RIGHT and that includes sharing how I learned from my mistakes and found myself as an artist. It hasn’t been an easy road, but it certainly has NEVER once been a boring journey. I hope you’ll join me here on my new blog as I take you down memory lane, teach you a few new tricks and even offer some heartfelt advice to those who have chosen professional photography as their career path. Over the years, I have helped many up & coming photographers to develop their skills and I have enjoyed each and every moment of it. I have accomplished a great deal more than I ever dreamed I would behind the camera including winning the coveted FujiFilm Masterpiece Award, the Kodak Gallery Award as well as having the honor of being awarded the Photographic Craftsman's Degree from Professional Photographer's of America. Mix that in with a few 1st Place print competition awards a "Best of Show" and "Photographer of the Year" and hopefully you have the makings of a few good stories.
